This month was highlighted by my trip to the United States Capital. The goal of this trip was to make my congressional delegation aware of human trafficking. I was also trying to gain their support of the new bill that is being introduced to committee which will promote the TIP office to become a bureau. As a bureau they will be able to sit at the table where the important decisions are made. Through this "lobby day" i learned that there is no cost to making the TIP office a bureau. I had the privilege of meeting with Alaska's two Senator's, Sen. Murkowski and Senator Begich; I met with their staff members. I was surprised to learn that Sen. Begich is on the Human Trafficking Caucus within the U.S. Senate. The picture below is all the states that were represented. This event was hosted by the International Justice Mission.
